Hello,

I called the Students Affairs Office and they said the appl fee is $75 and and the tuition fee is $750(also depending on the dept you apply to). On a no. of websites (including this one) it says tht Albany doesnt charge anything for clinical electives...and their website doesnt say anything about the charges. Should I call them again and confirm this? Kindly reply

It was free till last year. One of my friends went to Albany last year for 8 weeks and did not pay a penny for fees. Anyhow, things might have changed this year, confirm them and let me know; would update the information in the "list of universities" web page.

Hi there! Earlier albany was free and open. But I checked for albany in sep2009 and cam to know that the site has updated to accepting only those IMGs who are from affiliated medical schools in the world with albany. The only medical school in india was kasturba mc , manipal. this is as far as i remember. be sure to check details. they have modified their rules sometime during that time. Best Wishes.

Update regarding Vermont. According to their website they do not accept interrnationl students anymore, therefore you can remove it from the list.

Hi, I'm an Egyptian Medical student and I would like to join an elective program in US. my sister is already staying there in falls church, Virginia so I'm planning to stay with her during my elective program, but I need to know the nearest Universities that accept International Medical students for their elective program, I've been searching for weeks but in vain. I also wanted to ask if I'm starting my 5th year at college and I'm planning to go for the elective in my final year but I still didn't do step 1 USMLE do you think I still have time to do it before I apply for an elective program?

please reply soon

Thank you

Effective Sept 2010:

Application Fees - $500 (upto 12 weeks of electives)

Tuition Fees - $500 per elective

You are still advised to verify.

Effective sept. 2010, 500$ processing fees non-refundable and 1000$/month tuition fees that has to be paid before the start of particular month via check/darft., previously that was 300$ processing and 500$/month tuition.......hope that would help.

hi umar bhai,

i hope u might remember me,i have been searching your site and getting priceless guidance from you for the past couple of years.

What i have learned or experienced after applying and contacting almost all major IMG friendly programs in US, i think that list of universities for electives require some serious modifications esp for pakistani/indian med students. I wanna conribute in that regard so that poeple might apply straight to the programs that would accept them, but i really don't know how can i do that.

please reply me if u think its worth it.

    take care & HAPPY EID.

hi bhai..im preparin to apply to the colleges for FMG's for clerkship and iam seriously confused. Please bhai if you could mail me the list that you had prepared about colleges friendly for FMG's at sushangupta@gmail.com.im in starting of final year now.so would decide in next 6 months where to apply.please help!!

Hi ...Bhai...am trying to apply for electives in january 2014....can i know some universities which are IMG friendly adn give electives in the months of May till july...i find it evry difficult to know wht r IMG friendly universities...plzzz help....

Regarding SIUH, I havent done rotation there myself but heard about it being a good place plus i don't think that SIUH itself offers electives , all electives are scheduled through North Shore LIJ system........if you have anymore info regarding that, please share !

Hiii

I have applied to Harvard for the month of March n  Tufts for April.

No communication from Harvard till now.

Can you please let me know when Harvard informs and what are the chances of getting selected at Harvard and Tuft for electives

There is no hard and specific rule for it... they can inform u anytime... usually 8-12 weeks after ur application... getting an acceptance is pure luck if u have done good paperwork... so no one can give you chances of acceptance!

hi umarbhai,

Thanks a lot for all the information here on the website!

I am final year med student in India. I had 1 month elective in cornell and now rotating for observership  in TGH, florida. I want to have one more elective, I haven't given any steps  of usmle just have toefl (103).

I want to apply for electives in April in wisconsin, madison. but I can't find the deptt. of Internal medicine except family medicine to apply on the site. That's i could not understand the procedure to select the deptt. of choice properly. So, if you have some time then please reply to this specific question.

And also, does family medicine rotation help you while applying for internal medicine residency ?

And are there any other colleges where i can apply now for the month of april?

Thanks a lot!
