hey Umar Bhai, there is a question in the start of visa application- "purpose of travel"?
i should select this option na - "tourism/family visit/all other purposes" .

well can you tell me of other options but I dont think this is the right option for me... it has to be electives/ education something like that....

Friends i have my Visa interview date on the March 3rd.. and due to delay in courier and my office the CS form has reached the ECFMG now. So it will take 3 more weeks for it to confirm my CS. So what proof do i produce in front of the Visa Officer? Do i take the print of of my registration for CS? Will he accept that? I am a bit tensed plz help .. thank u..

Hello everyone,

Actually I was applying for a B1 visa. I am going for my clerkship to Philadelphia. I will also be giving my CS over there at that time.

I wanna know should i tell the visa officer that I will be giving my CS, cz wouldnt it incline him towards thinking that i plan on becoming a US citizen later on!

If i just tell him that I am going for clerkships and will be coming back after that, wouldnt tht be better??

Please help me out

Thanks

Hello All,

I just came back today from my visa interview. And i thought i would share my experiences and a few suggestions with you all..

One thing you need to remember is that its just a Visa interview. I know this has been said enough but its important that people understand this. The person on the other side of the glass is not deciding your fate for life, nor is he guaranteeing you a job anywhere. All he needs to know is that you are going to the US for a valid reason, you have enough money for this endeavor, and that you will come back. Thats all, you prove him this truthfully and I see no reason why you wouldnt get the visa..

I had applied for a B1/B2 visa..

OK, The most important support you can have with you during the interview is your documents. I cant tell you how comforting is it when you know that you have proof for everything you are speaking, Take all documents in original and xerox. But do not shove them into his face till the time he asks for them..

My visa interview was at Chennai consulate. reached around 30 mins before.. there were already people before me. they make you wait outside till about 20 mins before the time mentioned on your confirmation letter. then you go in and theres all the security checks and fingerprinting and stuff. when done with all the formalities, they will ultimately make you wait in the visa lobby where you will have your interview. I must admit that I was a little nervous regarding the fact that if the interview drifts to the point that I have to tell him that i plan on giving the mle's and then do my residency there( people say it weakens  your case, as you might be inclined to settle in US after your residency) so  kept changing the language of my answer to the question that why do i want to go to the US?, if asked.. so ultimately the VO comes to his window and we are made to stand in the Q. there are two people ahead of me, a very old couple and this young guy.. and surprisingly both get the visa!!!

ok, my turn comes and heres how it goes:

Me: Good Morning, how are u doing today??

VO: Good good, how are u?

Me: I am Great( hand him the mandatory documents)

VO: (after some typing), so why exactly do you want to got the US?

Me:( damn it!!!!!) Sir, I had been selected to attend a clinical clerkship at XYZ college, to which I had applied a few months back. and since I am a intern at ABC college, i am hoping that this would help me improve my clinical skills.(i was so glad after this answer, that i managed to keep it on track and not take it down the residency lane!!)

VO:(types again..) hmm, ok so are you done with your MBBS?

Me: no sir, i m still an intern, i am yet to receive my degree, which i would only get when i finish one complete year.

VO:mhmm, so this clerkship, would it count to your credit in internship or is it something you are doing optionally??

Me: No sir, this completely optional, it will not contribute anything to my internship, and whatever period i would miss because of the clerkship, i would have to repeat that..

VO: Good, thats infact great that it is not contributing to your internship.

ok, who would be sponsoring your trip?

Me: sir my parents would be..

VO: would you be knowing their incomes?

Me: yes sir, My dad earns Rs. RR/ year and my mom earns Rs, TT/ year. I have the proofs sir, if you would need them..

VO: no, that wont be required

could i see the acceptance letter from the college where you would be doing your clerkship?

(Hand it to him)

VO: Ok, great, I am pleased to inform you that your visa has been approved and you would get it by courier within a week!!

Me:( all smiling!!) thank you so much sir, Have a good day

VO: you too

Thats it, as easy as that.

Moral of the story:

1. Be confident

2. Have your documents, they are like your crutches, will prevent your case from falling down.

3. Stay calm.

Mail me at urapain2me@gmail.com if anyone needs to ask anything regarding the documents, interview or even electives..

BTW, i have been accepted at Jefferson..

thanks for your valuable contribution...... in case you are interested I can post this content as a page and provide you with author's access with a  username and password.....

HI,

recently my b1 visa was refused  for clerkship. I applied for B1 as my college requires B1 Business visa. I am planning to apply for second time. Should i apply for B1 only or B1/B2?

Thank you.

Do you know any reason why was your visa rejected? It is more important to know why your visa was rejected and work on that mistake rather than applying again with the same mistake.

Dear Umar Bhai ,

I have been accepted at Northwestern , my acceptance letter is the email i have received saying accepted or do i have to ask them to mail me a copy of the acceptance letter .

 Thank you Sir .

Dear Umar ,

Congratulations for the great website!!!

God bless you and will help you always as you are a nice guy.

I have been selected for research elective at JHU,I have got the acceptance letter but the address on the acceptance letter is different from the one on my passport.Actually the address mentioned is my correspondence address and the address on my passport is of the place where I am living since last 5 years.I had mailed the Elective coordinator and requested her for the change of address, but she says that the hard copy has already been sent.

I am really scared that my visa might get rejected due to variation in the address.

Please help.

Thanks

Hi.. I too havebeen selected in JHU research elective. But I received only an acceptance email(which did not have any address as u said). Should I request them to send me a more proper one as yours?? kindly clarify my doubt..

Hello Umar,

I am planning to visit US on a personal family visit and I am planning to take a visitor's visa for the same. I haven't taken my step 1 or step 2 CK but intend to take them both soon. Now that I am visiting US anyway, I would like to take the CS part of step 2 while I am there. Now the question that I have is, should I inform the US consulate of my intension to take the CS during the visa interview or can I just take the exam during my stay as a visitor without letting them know. Please advice. I am also planning to do observership there if thing turn out in its favor. Does that require a specific visa?

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

Three of us friends from the same med school got accepted for clinical elective at Mt. Sinai. We are now supposed to apply for visa. Would it adversely affect either of our cases for visa interview if we pursue it together? Should we go separately or is it okay to go together?

Kindly help me out on this one!

Thank you in advance!
